Conversation History
Find, organize, and manage your chat history
Billix saves all your conversations automatically. Here's how to find past chats, keep them organized, and manage your history.
Finding Past Conversations
Using the Sidebar
Your chat history appears in the left sidebar, organized by time:
- Pinned - Chats you've pinned (always at top)
- Today - Today's conversations
- Yesterday - Yesterday's chats
- Last 7 Days - Recent conversations
- Older - Everything else
Click any chat to open it and continue where you left off.
Using Search
Find any conversation instantly:
Open Search
Press ⌘+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows), or click the search icon.
Type Your Query
Search for keywords, topics, or specific phrases.
Select a Result
Click on a result to open that conversation. The matching text will be highlighted.
Search tip: Search works across all your messages and AI responses. Try searching for specific topics, names, or unique phrases.
Organizing Chats
Pinning Important Chats
Keep important conversations at the top:
- Hover over a chat in the sidebar
- Click the pin icon
- The chat moves to the "Pinned" section
To unpin, click the pin icon again.
Renaming Chats
By default, chats are named based on the first message. To rename:
- Right-click on a chat in the sidebar
- Select "Rename"
- Type a new name
- Press Enter
Good naming helps you find chats later:
- "Marketing Email Draft - Q2 Campaign"
- "Python Bug Fix - Authentication Issue"
- "Travel Planning - Japan Trip"
Grouping by Agent
If you use background agents, chats can be grouped by the agent that created them. This keeps related conversations together.
Managing History
Deleting Chats
To delete a single chat:
- Right-click on the chat in the sidebar
- Select "Delete"
- Confirm the deletion
Warning: Deleted chats cannot be recovered. Make sure to export important conversations before deleting.
Bulk Delete
To delete multiple chats:
- Go to Settings → History
- Select the chats you want to delete
- Click "Delete Selected"
Clear All History
To delete everything:
- Go to Settings → History
- Click "Clear All History"
- Confirm by typing "DELETE"
Exporting History
Export All Chats
Download your entire chat history:
Go to Settings
Click your profile picture and select Settings.
Open History
Navigate to the History section.
Click Export
Select "Export All Chats" to download a JSON file containing all your conversations.
Export Single Chat
Export one conversation:
- Open the chat you want to export
- Click the menu icon (three dots)
- Select "Export Chat"
- Choose format (Markdown or JSON)
Importing History
If you have exported chats (from Billix or another platform):
Go to Settings
Open Settings → History.
Click Import
Select "Import Chats."
Select File
Choose your exported JSON file.
Confirm Import
Review the import summary and confirm.
Imported chats are merged with your existing history. Duplicates are automatically detected and skipped.

Privacy
Your chat history is:
- Encrypted at rest and in transit
- Private to your account only
- Not used for training AI models
- Exportable anytime for your records
