Connecting Services

How to connect your apps and services to Billix

Connect your apps to Billix in just a few clicks. This guide covers the connection process for all integrations.

Before You Connect

Make sure you have:

  • An account with the service you want to connect
  • Admin permissions (for some workplace tools)
  • Billix open in a modern browser

General Connection Process

Open Settings

Click your profile picture in the top right, then select "Settings."

Go to Integrations

In the sidebar, click "Integrations" (or "Connectors").

Find Your Service

Scroll or search for the service you want to connect.

Click Connect

Click the "Connect" button next to the service.

Authorize Access

You'll be redirected to the service's login page:

  1. Log in if needed
  2. Review the permissions requested
  3. Click "Allow" or "Authorize"

Return to Billix

You'll be redirected back to Billix. The service should now show as "Connected."

Understanding Permissions

Read Permissions

Allow Billix to view data:

  • Read emails (Gmail)
  • View calendar events (Google Calendar)
  • Access documents (Google Drive)

Write Permissions

Allow Billix to create or modify:

  • Send emails or drafts (Gmail)
  • Create calendar events (Google Calendar)
  • Post messages (Slack)

Admin Permissions

Some services require additional permissions:

  • Managing team settings
  • Accessing organization-wide data
  • Installing apps in workspaces

Best Practice: Only connect services you actively want to use with Billix. You can always connect more later.

Service-Specific Instructions

Google Services (Gmail, Drive, Calendar)

Click Connect next to the Google service.

Select your Google account.

Review permissions carefully:

  • Gmail: Read and send emails
  • Drive: Access files
  • Calendar: View and create events

Click "Allow" to grant access.

You may see a "Google hasn't verified this app" warning. Click "Advanced" then "Go to Billix" to continue. This is normal for apps in development.

Slack

Click Connect next to Slack.

Select your Slack workspace.

Review the permissions:

  • View channels and messages
  • Post messages
  • Read user info

Click "Allow" to install the Billix app.

Note: You may need workspace admin approval for some organizations.

GitHub

Click Connect next to GitHub.

Log in to GitHub if needed.

Choose which repositories to grant access:

  • All repositories
  • Select repositories

Authorize the Billix GitHub app.

Notion

Click Connect next to Notion.

Log in to Notion.

Select which pages/databases to share with Billix.

Click "Allow access."

Important: Notion requires you to explicitly select which pages Billix can access.

Verifying Connection

After connecting:

  1. The service should show "Connected" status
  2. Try a simple test in chat:
    • Gmail: "How many unread emails do I have?"
    • Calendar: "What's on my calendar today?"
    • Slack: "List my Slack channels"

If the test works, you're all set!

Connecting Multiple Accounts

For some services, you can connect multiple accounts:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Click "Add Another Account" next to the connected service
  3. Complete the connection process with a different account
  4. Switch between accounts as needed

Use cases:

  • Personal and work Gmail accounts
  • Multiple GitHub organizations
  • Different Slack workspaces

Workplace and Enterprise

Getting Admin Approval

If your organization restricts app installations:

  1. Request approval from your IT admin
  2. Provide them with our security documentation
  3. Admin approves the app
  4. You can then connect

Single Sign-On (SSO)

For organizations with SSO:

  1. Click Connect
  2. Enter your work email
  3. You'll be redirected to your SSO provider
  4. Complete authentication
  5. Return to Billix

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

"Access Denied" Error

  • Ensure you have the right permissions
  • Check if your organization blocks third-party apps
  • Try connecting with a personal account first

Stuck on Authorization Page

  • Clear browser cookies and try again
  • Try a different browser
  • Disable browser extensions temporarily

"Already Connected" Error

  • Go to Settings → Integrations
  • Disconnect the existing connection
  • Try connecting again

Connection Keeps Failing

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Ensure pop-ups aren't blocked
  3. Try incognito/private mode
  4. Contact support if issue persists
